Welcome to the World Bass Clarinet Foundation Home page.

The aim of the foundation and of this web-site is to gain a broader support for the bass clarinet from musicians, composers and audience.

We will be entirely devoted to this immaculate instrument and the music performed with it, mainly as a solo instrument and in a wider application such as musical groups formed around the bass clarinet.

The First World Bass Clarinet Convention

The sounds and excitement of the First World Bass Clarinet Convention are still whirling in our head. This first convention, held in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, 21 – 23 October 2005, was an absolute success! It was a wonderful experience to see and hear so many enthusiastic bass clarinet players in one place.
The reactions from participants, guests, sponsors and everyone involved were extremely positive. The organizers of the Convention are proud that all their hard work paid off and such a momentous occasion came to fruition.

The three days of the Convention exceeded all expectations drawing nearly four hundred attendants, including 148 players for the mega bass clarinet choir’s performance of ‘Eulogy for Horatio Nelson’ by Paul Harvey, and 70 bass clarinet soloists from over 20 different countries.
